Information You Send Directly
A name, phone number, or address entered into a search form is sent to the third-party provider that supplies results. Charleston County Residents Directory does not retain a copy of those searches on its own servers. If you contact us, we receive the information in your message and use it to respond.
Automatically Collected Data
Our host maintains routine server logs, including an IP address, browser type, pages viewed, and timestamps. We review that information in aggregate to maintain the service and understand which resources are used. Cookies or similar tools may support basic analytics and, where applicable, advertising measurement.
How We Use Information
Information is used to operate the service, address technical issues, measure traffic, and improve its pages. We do not sell visitor lists or create individual visitor profiles.
Links to Outside Services
Links may lead to Charleston County and South Carolina records portals, library collections, archives, and third-party search tools. The policy of the destination service governs information submitted there, not this policy. That includes sponsored results supplied by a third party.
Who May Receive Data
Providers that host or support the service process server logs on our behalf. Analytics and advertising partners can receive the automatic information described above. We disclose data when valid legal process requires disclosure and not otherwise.
Security and Retention
The service uses an encrypted connection, and logs are retained only for the purposes described above. Because the service has no user accounts, it does not hold a visitor password or account profile that could be exposed.
Visitors Under 18
The service is intended for adults and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you think a minor has sent us information, contact us so it can be deleted.
Your Data Choices
You may ask to access, correct, or delete personal data this service holds about you. Since the service retains very little, we normally check the contact mailbox and relevant server logs, then remove applicable information. Use the Contact page to make a request. South Carolina has no general consumer data-deletion statute verified in the research used here. Its Family Privacy Protection Act, S.C. Code § 30-2-50, restricts knowing use of government-record personal information for commercial solicitation, while the Address Confidentiality Program, S.C. Code § 16-25-130, provides qualifying participants a designated address for state and local government records. Public records held by Charleston County, municipal, or South Carolina custodians remain outside our control; correction or removal requests belong with the original custodian.
Policy Updates
We will post any revision to this policy here. Continued use after a revision means you accept the updated policy.
